Can you see the disappointment in Evan’s face as we were snorkeling this morning?
Yes, we are headed home today.
Even so, we were up at six with the sun. We’ve chosen to sleep with just fans and no air conditioning, so we’ve had the windows wide open. When the sun comes up at 5:45, we are up soon after at six usually. Thats the glory of no blinds and shades.
We were much lazier this morning, however. We laid in bed for an hour listening the the surf crash. Our room was right on the beach, so each night we were lulled to sleep by the surf. It was so peaceful to just lie there and listen to the waves.
As we ate lunch this morning, a family of monkeys flew past us in the trees. Quite a way to bring our vacation to an end.
We spent our last morning snorkeling. The water was murkier than previous mornings, but we still saw lots of fish. I love snorkeling. I would do it every morning, if I could. It’s so peaceful and calm to just float on the surface, listening to my breathing and seeing the colorful fish.
As I write this, we are having a mid morning cocktail before the bus. It’s hard to be headed home. I can’t believe Christmas is less than three weeks away. The world I know seems so far away, but after a 15 hour flight, we’ll be back.
I feel this vacation has been like taking a dive down while snorkeling. We have a Canon waterproof camera. Occasionally, I would take a dive down to the ocean floor to get a closeup shot of a fish. While down there, I was in another world. It was quiet and peaceful under the water. To me that is what this vacation has been like. It’s been a dive, and now it’s time to come back to the surface.
Costa Rica has been amazing. We saw so much and dis so much. Keeping this blog has been great to remind myself of this trip. The best experiences were the turtles on the beach, the river tubing, and the zip lining. The sunsets were amazing. Actually, everything was awesome.
I know we’ll be back to Costa Rica. I hope you have enjoyed reading these posts and seeing my pictures. I’ll resume the 365 Photo Project posts when I get home.
